WHAT DO YOU ANCHOR YOUR LIFE TO?

Lead your life. Co-create with life.

Last week, I sat with an accomplished corporate leader.

For years, one of his strongest motivations had been his parents. He had watched them work very hard and still live a difficult life. He wanted his family to live differently.

So he worked.

He achieved.

And years ago, that dream became reality.

I asked him:

“What anchors you now?”

He paused.

Then said:

“Something meaningful.”

But he could not quite name what that “something” was.

I found that moment deeply human.

Many of us may eventually arrive there.

Not in crisis.

But when something that carried us for years has completed its work.

What happens when the thing that carried you here has done its work?

For many years, our anchor may be very clear.

A family we want to care for.

A goal we want to reach.

A company we want to build.

A person we want to walk with.

A mission we deeply believe in.

These anchors can carry us very far.

They organize our energy. They help us move through difficulty. They give our choices direction.

And sometimes, life changes.

The family is okay.

The goal is reached.

The company grows.

The relationship changes.

The mission evolves.

Then another question quietly appears:

What do I live from now?

Often, we search for another anchor quickly.

Another goal.

Another company.

Another relationship.

Another mission.

Another big thing.

Sometimes the next thing is exactly right.

But sometimes, we are simply transferring our orbit.

I recognize this in myself, and in many visionary leaders I have worked with.

We naturally see possibilities.

A conversation can become a programme.

A programme can become a platform.

A place can become a learning ecosystem.

We love creating meaningful things—sometimes very big things.

But part of our becoming may be learning:

Seeing a possibility does not mean I am responsible for carrying it.

And even when something truly belongs to my path:

It may belong to my life without belonging to this season.

Maybe a mission is not the deepest anchor.

A mission gives direction.

A goal gives focus.

A person gives companionship.

And all of these can be beautiful.

But all of them can also change.

So what remains?

In 1000 Souls in Me, I keep returning to a quieter possibility:

Our deepest anchor is going to becoming less about what we are moving toward, and more about the ground from which we meet life.

Our values—not borrowed, but lived.

Our body.

Our awareness.

Our relationship with truth.

Our spiritual ground.

Our responsibility for our own life.

Our capacity to love without possessing, to contribute without carrying, and to return when we notice we have drifted.

We can lead our life from there.

Not by controlling life.

But by taking responsibility for where we stand while meeting it.

And then—

Co-create with life.

  • Bring your choices.

    Your values.

    Your courage.

  • Then listen.

  • Let reality answer.

    Let timing matter.

    Let relationships reveal themselves.

Let a beautiful possibility remain beautiful without immediately becoming yours.

  • We choose.

    Life responds.

  • We listen.

    We adjust.

    We continue.

In 1000 Souls in Me, I have come to call this HOME.

Not a place where nothing changes.

But a center from which we can move, create, love, build—and return.

Our work can grow from HOME.

Our relationships can enter HOME.

Our mission can flow from HOME.

But none of them needs to become something we orbit so completely that we disappear inside it.

Build from HOME—not build in order to find HOME.

So the question is not only:

What is your next goal?

Or:

What is your mission?

It is:

What anchors you when the goal is achieved?

Who are you when nobody needs you to prove anything?

What still feels worth living when no person, title, achievement or mission has to carry your direction?

Maybe the deepest anchor is not one person.

Not one goal.

Not one mission.

Maybe we anchor in life itself—and in the way we choose to meet it.

To be awake.

To love.

To create.

To take responsibility.

To receive.

To contribute.

To keep becoming.

And to return.

Lead your life.

Co-create with life.
Build from HOME.
And return, again and again.
