We carry many ways of being within one life. Some protected us. Some helped us achieve. Some are still waiting for room. 1000 Souls in Me is an invitation to meet them—not to choose one perfect self, but to let more of ourselves become available.
I once told my nephew the title of my next book. What he said became one of the simplest doorways into the whole idea.
“If we had one thousand souls inside us, maybe we would explode. They would fight each other.”
I asked him:
“And what if those one thousand souls worked together?”
His face changed. “That would be amazing. Super powerful.”
Jen calls these recognisable ways of being our “souls.” They are not separate personalities or problems to eliminate. They are ways we have learned to survive, belong, achieve, love, protect, create and lead.
Evolution does not always require replacement. Sometimes it is expansion. The person who learned to be strong does not need to stop being strong. Calm can join strength.
The person who learned to achieve does not need to abandon ambition. Gratitude can join ambition. The one who gives can also learn to receive.
These are not opposing traits to balance mathematically. They are capacities that can become available together.
Jen VuHuong, author of 8 books, grew up in a village in Bắc Giang, Vietnam. Her life moved through very different worlds: village girl, engineer, international scholar, speaker, coach, founder, innovation leader, researcher, daughter, sister—and a human being still becoming.
She came close to being kidnapped and to losing her life multiple times. She crossed countries, professions, communities and versions of herself. Through more than 15 years of working with leaders, founders, educators and changemakers across 50+ countries, one question kept returning:
Who are we becoming as life asks more of us?
1000 Souls in Me did not emerge because every version had been resolved. It grew from learning to live with more of them.
Across conversations, communities and countries, 1000 Souls in Me has been held, shared and reflected on with readers, leaders, coaches and fellow travellers.
And what other part might be ready to join?
We do not need to silence the part that has carried us. Another part can simply join.
